PANORAMAS opens at Serendipity Gallery

PANORAMAS is a two-artist show: Matthew Neele and Zeb Mayer‏ that opens on Friday, August 12th from 4 to 6 pm. and runs until August 31st at Serendipity Gallery. The show is curated by Liliana Kleid.

Matthew Neele

Born in Michigan in 1990 with Dutch parents who had the urge to travel far and wide, Matthew was exposed by many cultural views from Africa, Asia, to the Americas from an early age. These travels throughout his life have heavily impacted him personally and his passion for all things art related. Using vibrant colors, bold strokes and various mixed media. Recently having moved to Litchfield, CT to become the Pastry Chef at Community Table, he has had more time to reignite his love for paint and picture. Being mostly self taught, his fine art classes from his teenage years have come into good use. He as an emerging artist, has now found new confidence to show his art with the world.

Zeb Mayer

Varying in subject matter and medium, Zeb Mayers work is consistently derived from his thoughts and understandings of human oddities. Behaviors of human beings that are most often indirectly depicted, but represented as a place in time, or product of a human condition. Zeb has long been fascinated with the strange qualities of individualisms as well as the eclectic group mind set of man kind. As a self-proclaimed cynic, his work often touches on themes of life, in the light of destruction, greed, and unfortunate situations due to behaviors of others. His work is riddled with indirect narrative on societies, nations, and social classes, often representing themselves as a product of these behaviors. His drawings are held together by the movement and form of his obsession with the quality of line. His paintings often reflect this. Being heavily influenced by his father to draw at a young age, Zeb began as a hopeful cartoonist in the making. This childish interest in cartooning quickly bloomed into a full time obsession to learn the tools of the trade, and discover the ability to “see” as his father would say. As his artistic abilities strengthened, he then began question the bizarre behaviors of animals and humans alike. Zeb currently works from his studio in New Milford Ct, a short reach away from his father’s influence, as well as the boisterous art communities in Washington, Kent, and Cornwall CT.
